In the Biography of Qu Yuan:

Qu Yuan, whose name was Ping, was a contemporary of King Huai of Chu during the period of Chu. He was also a student of Confucius. He was born into a poor family due to the misfortune of his family and said, "Life and death are predetermined; wealth and poverty are determined by Heaven." People are destined to die once, which may be heavier than Mount Tai or lighter than a goose feather - it is difficult to predict. Therefore, a wise person does not rejoice in material things and does not grieve for oneself. Although Qu Yuan was good at composing poems, he expressed his emotions vividly - he could catch the moon and chase wild clouds; he could accumulate resentment, hold on to treasures and gems, and shape morality and culture from all directions. Even after a hundred years, he said, "I am seen by future generations as the successor of King Wen." However, the more achievements he made, the more regrets he had. King Huai wanted to cross the sea to challenge the vassal states, but he worried about it and sought advice from his student. The student replied, "Certainly!"
